Welcome to my campaign site! As a long time resident of Nassau County, I have had the pleasure of teaching English literature and Composition at Nassau Community College for over two decades. I am also a community advocate who believes in maintaining a high quality of education for all students. I was recently reelected to a second term on the Hempstead School Board, ensuring a sound foundation for our next generation of leaders. I also serve on the Town of Hempstead IDA Board as well as community partnerships ensuring a better quality of life for all Long Islanders. We need to see improvement throughout our local government, and I am committed to being a part of that change.

Joylette Williams is a proud, long-time resident of Nassau County, a dedicated mother, and a passionate educator who has devoted her life to service, learning, and advocacy. As a Professor of English at Nassau Community College, she not only teaches literature and writing but also empowers students through courses in Women’s and Gender Studies and Human Rights Studies. Her current research focuses on the Supreme Court’s 2023 Affirmative Action decision and its ongoing impact on Black and Brown communities—a reflection of her deep commitment to justice and equity.
